Router settings that might effect your Gokonnect cameras

If your cameras are not working correctly and are often disconnecting from your broadband there may be some changes that need to be made within your router settings.

SkybellHD and Skybell Slimline

The Skybell HD and the Skybell slimline only work on 2.4Ghz. Most routers automatically split the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks for example your eir network will probably be split and have two available networks both with the same name but ending with either 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz. If your network is not split then you will have to make changes through the router settings, if you are making changes and you are unfamiliar with making changes on your router it is advised to contact your ISP (internet service provider) who will guide you through the process.

External and Internal Cameras (PoE and Wi-Fi)

Some ISP have quality of service systems in place, Quality of Service (QoS) is a feature of routers which prioritize traffic so that more important traffic can pass first. QoS can cause problems with cameras and will often not allow the live video to load, if you have QoS in place it is highly recommended that you turn this feature off otherwise your cameras will not work correctly. You can turn off QoS in your router settings, it may be under a different name Virgin Media call it Quality of Service but Eir call it bandwidth control. Contact your service provider who will help you turn off the feature.
