What is the difference between 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz? The big difference is that 2.4Ghz has slower speeds but greater range and 5Ghz has greater speeds but has a smaller range. Some devices are not compatible with 5Ghz and only work on 2.4Ghz.

If you are connecting a camera or doorbell to your Wi-Fi you will first need to know if the device you are adding works with 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz or both. Majority of the Wi-Fi cameras we use work on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz but the Skybell slimline and the SkybellHD only work on 2.4Ghz. Most internet providers split the SSID for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz but some don't split them and you will have to split them yourself in the router settings. If you need help splitting the router SSID you can contact your broadband provider and they will help you.
